A women’s hospital located in the Chongqing’s Fuling District has threatened to fire workers who buy the new iPhone 7 in an official notice to its employees.
The Chongqing Fuling Xinjiuzhou Women’s Hospital reasons that the latest iPhone (iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus) models have attracted sky-high prices and wants its employees to adopt a less extravagent and more prudent lifestyle. The directive states, “At a time when the People’s Republic of China celebrates its 67th anniversary, this institution advocates prudence and diligence, wishing to put an end to luxurious and wasteful spending.” It continued to warn employees that any member or staff who failed to comply would be subject to disqualification from end-of-year appraisals and awards and could also potentially face unemployment.
The hospital has since admitted that they would not be enforcing its own directive.
So while employees may not actually get fired for using a non-domestic smartphone brand, they’d probably get a lot of stink-eye from hospital officials for doing so.
