Think Jason Statham’s the only action star out here flagrantly disobeying traffic laws in the name of vigilante heroism? That the Fast & Furious gang are the only guys drifting in Tokyo? Think again. Hollywood may have a thing for staging high-octane chases in East Asian cities, but Asian cinema’s got no shortage of their own adrenaline-pumping, dizzyingly-shot car chases to fill you with anxiety–and, honestly, a little bit of envy.
Whether you drive a practical mid-size sedan, a luxury sports car, or a 10-seater family SUV, you’ve gotta admit: you’ve always fantasized about and flipping your car across four lanes of traffic to try and outrun a speeding a ticket. No? Just me?
That said– don’t try this at home. I don’t care how impeccable your Toyota’s safety rating is.
The Suspect (2014)
This iconic scene from THE SUSPECT, starring Korean heartthrob Gong Yoo, is seven minutes of pure, heart-stopping thrills. The cars aren’t flashy (one is literally a minivan), but the maneuvers are incredible.
