What better way to kick off 2017 in earnest than with sexy dudes and syllabic poetry? The second annual “Haikus With Hotties” calendar is here to satisfy you body and soul with 12 months of attractive Asian creative-types and their self-written haikus–but this time, they’re wearing their words on their own sculpted bods.
The photo and poetry series, created by Ada Hseng, began in 2013 in Audrey Magazine, featuring the first Hottie, THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS’ sex god Godfrey Gao. After recruiting a bunch more hotties and raising funds through a Kickstarter campaign, the first Haikus with Hotties calendar debuted in 2016.
Here’s a peek at some of the hunks that populate 2017’s “Haikus ON Hotties:”
Gerrard Lobo, actor
Gerrard Lobo made us swoon last year as Aziz Ansari’s hunky (& hilarious) foil, Anush, on MASTER OF NONE. Coupled with his off-Broadway stint as Shakespeare’s Romeo himself, Lobo’s definitely a dude determined to set your heart aflutter. Although with a raunchy haiku like this one, we think he’s more concerned with sending your blood rushing other places.
Ronnie Woo, chef
A chef that looks good enough to eat? Yes, please. Incidentally (or not so incidentally), Woo hosts a cooking show on LOGO aptly titled “Food to Get You Laid.” Though we doubt he really needs to use cuisine as a wingman, especially when he’s spinning sweet poems like this one.
Vishavjit Singh, cartoonist
There’s nothing sexier than socially-conscious creativity. With Sikhtoons, cartoonist Vishavjit Singh illustrates the cultural issues surrounding his identity as a Sikh-American in a post-9/11 world. When he’s not drawing, Singh dons his Captain Sikh American cosplay and fights against the forces of intolerance and narrow-mindedness.
Michael Bow, actor, & Dan Matthews, rapper
We wouldn’t mind being the patty in this man-sandwich. Michael Bow and Dan Matthews are two of the faces of ISAtv, a global entertainment brand focused on Asian culture. Bow’s starred in WongFu production “My Best Friend Is Hot,” as well as videos on his own Youtube channel, while Dan’s managed to release a hip-hop album and direct a documentary about meeting his biological family.
Joseph Vincent, singer
This singer/songwriter made his big break crooning as a special guest on The Ellen Show. In the Haikus on Hotties calendar, he makes a bold statement by going for the pantsless aesthetic–rather than exposing his nips to the world. Those legs (and that voice) are making our own knees go all wibbly.
Justin Kim, model
Kim was the first Asian-American man featured to compete on America’s Next Top Model–and damn Tyra, do you know how to pick him . Could this subtle thumbs up be the smize of 2017?
You can sneak a peek at the rest of the hotties (and buy the calendar itself) on the Haikus on Hotties website; best of all, proceeds from the calendar will be donated the Angry Asian Man blog, so feeding your hot dude habit is totally guilt-free.
Now go forth, lusty wench, and take this thirst-quenching organizational tool as a good omen for 2017.
