Japanese companies have often been at the forefront of finding new ways of fitting chocolate in your diet (like when one company did God’s work and gave us sliced chocolate), but they may have taken it a step too far this time. The company Ajigen has taken upon themselves to make chocolate eggs called ‘Choco Tama.’
Just to be clear, this isn’t some Cadbury Egg rip off, this is cooking actual chocolate into your eggs. Choco Tama is a powder mixture made with cocoa powder, cocoa butter, and powdered milk, that you mix directly with two eggs before cooking them up into a delicious (?) treat.
They’re made for the express purpose of making tamagoyaki “scrambled egg-like omelet like that featured in egg sushi.” It’s targeted towards kids, whose strange little palates might find this expressly appealing.
These packets will be available for sale on October 15 for the low price of $2.99. They also have a shelf life of several months (always a sign of nutritious, healthy food), so you can stretch your supply out for a while! Yum.
Here at Asian Crush, we’re all a little confused as to how this would be different than, say, mixing chocolate syrup into your egg yolks, but maybe we just have to try and see. Happy eating!
