Etta Ng–the 17-year-old daughter of movie star Jackie Chan–took to Instagram last Thursday to let her rainbow flag fly: she’s gay, y’all, and head-over-heels in sweet, sweet love.
On October 5, Etta made her coming out short, sweet, and social media friendly, uploaded a picture of her own technicolor silhouette with a rainbow emoji and the hashtags “#lgbtqai, #lbgt # lesbian and #androngynous” to her sparse account–she’d only made her Instagram debut earlier that same day.
Around the same time, her girlfriend Andi Autumn–a Canadian social media starlet–posted an artsy pic of the pair, their faces partially obscured, with a heartfelt caption gushing about her love for Etta and relating their struggle for acceptance.
Thank you to all of those who have shown love and support towards @stolenmilktea and I. We appreciate everyone's kind words and it's honestly giving us more energy to fight for what's right. We will continue to share our journey and hope we can help others along the way. Let's make this world a peaceful and understanding one. #pansexual #lgbtqai #loveislove #lovealwayswins #queer #loveyourself
The next day, Etta posted another picture of her looking cool af, this time with a caption thanking her followers for their overwhelming support following her low-key coming out.
For those wondering about her dear ole dad’s response to her announcement, Etta and Jackie don’t actually have much in the way of a relationship; she was conceived from an extramarital affair Chan had with Hong Kong beauty queen Elaine Ng, but Ng raised Etta alone. In a 2015 interview, Etta called her dad “just a stranger,” and Chan has said himself he won’t be leaving her anything in his will.
But he does, at least, support LGBT rights! In 2013, he made a PSA for GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Anti-Defamation League.)
