After more than 50 years of making movies and breaking bones, Jackie Chan has finally been awarded with the ultimate in Hollywood recognition: an Oscar.
But how, you ask? The Academy Awards aren’t until February! Well, it wasn’t an Oscar in the traditional sense, given for a specific work or performance; it was an honorary award presented to Chan last night at the Governor’s Ball, an honor given each year to groundbreaking film stars and directors like him for their years of contributions to cinema.
Previous honorees have included Spike Lee, Hayao Miyazaki, and Steve Martin. Chan seemed pretty thrilled to finally recieve a little golden man–check out his acceptance speech:
