Thanks to GoUsa, the Chinese heist action movie The Adventurers got an official American trailer with subtitles. The movie stars Hong Kong film actor Andy Lau and Taiwanese talents Tony Yang and Shu Qi as three master thieves who take part in the mission of a lifetime. Lau plays a former thief called out of retirement for one last great heist, Yang plays the consummate tech-savvy hacker, and Shu plays an alluring provocateur and seductive thief eager to prove her worth and break some limbs.
The film was written, directed, and produced by Hong Kong moviemaker Stephen Fung, who actually married the actress playing his female lead during production in 2016. The Adventurers will be the sixth film he has directed.
The film looks to be packed with action, all kinds of special weaponry and gadgetry, and plenty of high-stakes combat and chase scenes. The film also features two intense antagonists. There’s Jean Reno as a French detective determined to lock up criminals at any cost, and Zhang Jingchu, who plays Amber, the male lead’s vengeful ex-girlfriend who is sure to cause all kinds of petty trouble for the heroes.
The film also features several European locations as a manhunt ensues across Europe and rare jewels travel from Cannes to Berlin.
Also of note is that the film features much dialogue in both Mandarin Chinese and English with some of the film’s more catchy lines clearly delivered in English for American audiences.
“Just because you’re out of prison, doesn’t mean you’re really free.”
“Once a thief, always a thief.”
“You will have to kill me!”
“Where is he?”
While The Adventurers is set for its Chinese debut for this Friday, August 11th, the American version film currently has no set release date. Still, we at Asian Crush are always hyped for badass movies involving Asian stars!
