ALONG WITH THE GODS: TWO WORLDS has been open less than a week, but it’s already demolishing box office records in Korea–and enjoying a limited run stateside!
The star-studded fantasy-epic boasts a cast of Cha Tae-hyun (MY SASSY GIRL, SCANDAL MAKERS), Ha Jung-woo (THE HANDMAIDEN, NAMELESS GANGSTER), Ju Ji-hoon (PRINCESS HOURS, NAKED KITCHEN), Kim Hyang-gi (WEDDING DRESS, THE GRAND HEIST), and k-pop-star-cum-thespian Do Kyungsoo (aka my bias in EXO).
The plot follows a recently-deceased firefighter’s (Cha) post-mortem journey through the underworld, guided by three grim reapers who will defend him in the trial that determines where he’ll spend his afterlife–or whether he’ll be reincarnated.
As of Christmas Day, the film had surpassed 4 million viewers in just 6 days– having already reached milestones like 1 million 3 days, 2 million within 4, and 3 million in 5 days–breaking previous records held by emormous hits like ASSASSINATION, ODE TO MY FATHER, and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.
And right now it’s playing (or will be soon) in select theaters across the U.S. Check out the locations and times here.
From the looks of the trailer, ALONG WITH THE GODS is sure to be a action-packed spectacle.
D.O doesn’t appear in the trailer–from what we understand, he’s more of a supporting character–but his performance is already earning rave reviews from fans.
