Pregnancy cravings are no joke. They can hit at any time, at any place–with the ferocity of a raging dumpster fire, and the sodium of a thousand salt shakers. Many a tale has been told of beleaguered dads-to-be rushing to gas stations at 3 AM to satiate their wives’ hankerings for pickles and ice cream, but what if the hunger hits when he can’t make an emergency grocery store run?
One all-star husband from Korea wasn’t willing to take that risk.
Instead of leaving his pregnant wife Yoo-jung to fend for herself while he was at work, Lee Jong-chul decided to bring the convenience store to her, recreating the snack aisle in their living room. It’s a beautiful sight: shelves and shelves stocked to the brim with Yoo-jung’s favorite munchies, ramen noodles, drinks, and more.
Per All K-pop, Yoo-jung posted photos of the sweet gesture on social media, where it blew up with tens of thousands of likes.
She explained that he’d built the snack shelves in case she got hungry while he was at work, but she had some reservations about the cost. “Honestly, I really liked it but I told him he was wasting money,” she said. “But he told me to stop nagging because he did it with the money that smokers would use for buying cigarettes.”
Not really seeing the relevance there tbh, unless Jong-chul’s recently quit smoking. But hey, it’s true–at least he’s dropping his dough on pampering his wife instead of clogging up the baby’s lungs with secondhand smoke.
Take notes, guys.
