It was a sad day on September 7, 2013 when Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement at age 72. No more of the movies we all love from arguably the most popular anime director in the west would be made.
But now with the lead of French video game development company Bloomylight Studios, a game in the style and worlds of Miyazaki is being made. Called LYNN AND THE SPIRITS OF INAO, users play as the titular Lynn and move through this open world progression game to solve the mysteries of the island Inao and appease tortured spirits.
The project is currently on Kickstarter and has achieved about a sixth of its budget goal. They have all kinds of cool rewards listed for donating ranging from digital copies of the game to having your name engraved on monuments in the game. You could be in a Miyazaki video game!
The Studio Ghibli director and producer would be proud. Check out some of the music below and make sure to visit Bloomylight Studios’ webpage. The game is expected to be available on PC and Steam in 2017.
